Organization at a glance
Bagura DPOD is a Disabled Peoples Organization (DPO) working in Bagura district of Bangladesh. The organization was established on 20-02-2004 Being started involving 350 persons with disabilities with support from “PSID” development approach initiated by Bangladesh Protibondhi Kalyan Somity (BPKS), end of the project authority of Bagura DPOD handover to local persons with disabilities. Now the organization has total 27 members; among them male 13 and female 14 The organization implements its activities ensuring equal participation of men and women with disabilities. According the bylaws of the organization there are 27 members in its General Committee and 7 members are in the Executive Committee. The organizational activities are implemented by the staff and volunteers following the directives of the General Secretary/ Executive Director. Through the direct involvement of the men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote rights of persons with disabilities and improving their lives with supports from government and non-government organizations. Besides, the organization is striving for partnership with the mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs through ensuring active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities as well as providing capacity building and technical assistance.
Working area:
Bagura DPOD is working in Bangladesh in Bagura district. It is working in the Nandigram municipal area, 5 unions (1No. Buroil, 2 No. Nandigram, 3 No. Vatara, 4 No. Taltamajhgram, 5 No. and Vatgram) of Nandigram sub-district (upazila), 1 union (1 No. Kusumbi) of Sherpur sub-district (upazila) of Bagura.
